Huskies and malamutes are breeds meant to have the brains and will for smart disobedience. So if you’re out in the Cute Don’t care Bear Weed Shirt wilderness and you tell your sled team to go left, the dogs need to be smart enough to go, “yo, that’s thin ice up there, how about NO?” and turn right instead. Also, where western breeds like Labs and collies had an expectation of coming inside and being family companions at the end of the day, sledding breeds were not bred for that. They’re bred to be sociable, but not super eager-to-please. And stubborn and snarky. Can’t forget that.
Cute Don’t care Bear Weed Shirt, Tank Top, V-neck, Sweatshirt And Hoodie
Avoid resources that talk about “being the alpha” when you look for training resources – not only are dogs, not wolves (current science suggests wolves and dogs descended Cute Don’t care Bear Weed Shirt from a common ancestor, not dogs from wolves), the alpha pack hierarchy theory has been thoroughly discredited, and its original researcher even admitted he made a big mistake and regrets it. (Side note, wolf packs typically are made up of family units with parents in charge, and the offspring strike out on their own when they’re old enough to find a mate, have pups, and boom – there’s another pack). Anyway, all that to say.
