Now I want to one day own a dachshund so I can call it a Sausage and a Noodle. I Nice Love To All Pride Shirt currently have a Mini Schnauzer aka as a Gumnut or a Googie Head, and a Doberman aka as a Noonicorn (in our house anyway). So sweet. I had a doxie who passed away a couple of years ago. I miss him every day. Hold your little friend close. Happy birthday to the protector of the house and the defender of the hearth! Enjoy ur time togetherAlso, plenty of exercises needed to keep the muscles strong. A lethargic heavy dachshund is surely to have back issues. My brother’s dachshund is 15, always at an ideal weight, exercise, etc, and no back issues.

I know a lot of people say “dachshunds will have back problems” end of the story, but Nice Love To All Pride Shirt in actuality, they are prone to issues due to weight and babying them, and their long body. Good luck with your little guy! Hope he’s able to fully recover! Although your advice is excellent (and all dogs should be kept at the ideal weight and have a strict diet), from the countless medical research papers that I read on the matter, there is no conclusive evidence that lifestyle has a contribution on whether the dog will have some back issues or not. It is mostly genetics, unfortunately.
Official Nice Love To All Pride Sweatshirt, Hoodie
My dog is a small to medium-sized mutt but she has a long body and short legs. She Nice Love To All Pride Shirt has always been very fit and active, and she only eats top quality dog food. And yet now she is on bed rest in her cage, on meds, recovering from a herniated disc, and she’s not even 5yo yet. I read somewhere that around 25% of this type of long dogs will have a disc problem at some point in their lives and if they show sudden acute pain or restricted movement, or even worse, some degree of paralysis, time is of the essence! You need to take them to the vet fast. It is very much treatable as long as they get help in time.
